Who We Are
Brief History of the First Presbyterian Church of Glens Falls
Organized as the Union Church of Pearl Village in 1803, it was not until 1806 before an elder from the First Presbyterian Church in Albany came to Glens Falls to lead the congregation in its quest for an organization and a building, which was completed in 1808. Known as "Old White", the first building stood on Warren Street. Due to fires, as well as the need for expansion, eventually four structures stood at that site. The Church grew, and the current edifice, our fifth building, was built on Glen Street 1926-1929, and was designed by the famous American architect, Ralph Adams Cram.
This impressive and spiritually stimulating Neo-Gothic building was dedicated in 1929 and is
on the National Register of Historic Places.
