| Report on the 2008 Mission Trip |
| Over the past three years, the Bay Road Church has organized mission trips to areas of the Gulf
Coast devastated by Hurricane Katrina. Starting with a team of 16 people from the church and community in 2006, the mission expanded to 57 people from Bay Road, First Presbyterian, Glens Falls, Hudson Falls and Warrensburg along with
others from our community. The 2008 Mission Team spent a total of three weeks in Pearlington MS during March. |
| |
| Pearlington, MS was inundated by the 20 foot storm surge of Katrina in 2005. Every home was left uninhabitable after the waters receded. Now, 2 & 1/2 years later, rebuilding
by people from all over the US and from many faith traditions is taking place. Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) is coordinating and managing the efforts of many of the teams
working in the area. |
| |
| This year's teams worked on the homes of three families. With the help of the team from the Brunswick Church (Troy, NY area),
who arrived at the end of March, these three families are close to finally "coming home" and have hope again after more than 2 years of
despair. |

In an article in the April 2008 Albany Presbytery
"E News" Marcia Etu, Mission Trip Coordinator and member of the Bay Road Church, provides an excellent summary of this year's Mission Trip.
